SHIMUS (Original Brand)
=About SHIMUS
=Material Collection
=Light Objet Collection

The brand name "SHIMUS" comes from SHI which means paper and MUS which
means to tie in Japanese. By combining Washi paper and other materials
or light, we wish to expand the bond between people.

SHIMUS designs and creates a new type of atmosphere and attractiveness for modern interiors with WASHI.

SHIMUS brand was originated from the Japanese word WASHI (Japanese paper)and MUSUBU(to link, connect, bring together). Combining these two words symbolizes the linkage of paper with different types of materials, the connection of the paper and light and most important the usage of paper as a tool for bringing people together.

Eriko Horiki, established the SHIMUS brand in 1987, and has been successful in designs for a number of public facilities. Eriko Horiki's work is not only dynamic in color and patterns but is also spectacular when combined with natural light or light fixtures.
She creates a new environment with her work and has solved the problems with special techniques for the paper to not tear, stain, discolor or even shrink or stretch.

Light Objet series are all handmade by using a special method which does not require any type of wire or glue. With this patented method, paper making becomes three dimensional to give a delicate curve on the surface. When lights are turned on, they all express individual unique shape and shadows and enhances the characteristic texture of Washi paper. This modern design derived from traditional Japanese beauty will suit any interiors whether it is Japanese or Western style.
