Yugyoan Tankuma Hotel Yokohama New Grand
Kanagawa 2014
In the refurbishment of a hotel restaurant, spatial designs were drawn up and washi works installed. The hotel showcases one of the West’s great art styles and is renowned for the beauty of its art deco interiors, and its restaurant has long-established aesthetic principles and a tradition of serving Kyoto-style cuisine; all these factors were placed at the heart of the design with the aim of creating an authentic and original interior decoration. The TATEWAKU pattern gives an impression of waves or wind and is a combination of straight lines representing Japanese style and curved lines representing the West.
