HORIKI ERIKO

Three-dimensional walls surrounding an escalator were decorated with washi. After entering the museum, visitors pass through an approach to the exhibition galleries; the rising escalator and washi hint at vibrant soaring trees in a forest. Ground coffee beans were embedded in the washi, and coupled with a TATEWAKU pattern motif, the work gives visitors the impression of wafting steam and the aroma of freshly roasted coffee.
